Bengali Word Processor
I am from West Bengal, India. My native language is Bengali. Since I have been living in USA for over two decades, my writing skill in Bengali is slowly deteriorating for lack of practice. My spoken Bengali is still strong as I speak in Bengali to my family members.
Few years ago, I accidentally came upon an advertisement for a Bengali Word Processor called AdarshaBangla Keyboard. It is a very interesting and easy to use software. You type the Bengali words on a standard English keyboard using phonetic spelling (as the Bengali word sounds), and the words get written on the monitor in Bengali script! Pretty amazing. You can, of course, cut, copy, paste etc. as you would in a standard word processor.
After downloading and installing the software, I needed only about an hour's practice to master the software. I was so excited to see Bengali words in print coming out of my printer that I was inspired to publish my first Family Newsletter in Bengali. And I had news to give to my bigger family. My daughter had just received her Ph.D. degree from Yale!
Below is an electronic copy of my first Family Newsletter in Bengali. Unfortunately, I had to scale down the size to fit the newsletter on this Web page so that one can see it in full without having to scroll horizontally. I also had to convert it into black and white document (the printed original is in color), and break it up in two parts to reduce the file size(s) for fast downloading.

I thank Arif Joarder for answering some of my initial questions about the AdarshaBangla Keyboard and also for explaining to me how to write some of the Bengali "juktakkhar"s (compounded letters) using the Keyboard. I am having a lot of fun with this software. And my written Bengali is improving!
